WHAT IS SCA? RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND COMMITTEES
The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) is the national association representing shipyards engaged in the building, repair, breaking, and cleaning of marine vessels, and other companies associated with this industry.
What bonds SCA members together are the common problems relating to the construction and repair of vessels engaged in domestic transportation, the fishing industry, offshore service, and military and government service.
The mission of the SCA is to be the national unifying association of the shipyard industry, serving as the definitive spokesman for the industry in Washington and around the country.
SCA will inform its members on all matters important to their growth, profitability and success involving legislative and government departments and agencies, and other public and private entities as necessary for the Association to achieve objectives important to members.
SCA will promote high standards of health, safety, and environmental awareness throughout the industry.
Contributions or gifts to SCA are not tax deductible as charitable contributions. However, they may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. SCA will notify you annually of the non-deductibility portion of your dues--the part, which is allocable to lobbying.
