Through the SCA-OSHA National Alliance, SCA members have the opportunity to supplement their own Fire Protection Plans with the sample ones listed below.
On September 17, 2004, OSHA issued a final rule on Fire Protection in Shipyard Employment (29 CFR 1915.500). Developed through the negotiated rulemaking process, the final rule requires employers to develop a written fire watch policy, prohibits employees performing hot work to act as their own fire watch, and includes a model fire safety plan that employers can use. It incorporates standards from numerous entities, including the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), OSHA, U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
Listed below are links to some sample plans provided by SCA members.
